Disney in Aggieland

At the beginning of the summer, I mentioned that our department remains very active all year.  During the summer sessions, our students participate in an industry-animation-course. Our department collaborates with one of the leading animation studios to give the students a condensed “real-world” production experience.

This year, students taking the Summer Industry Course (VIZA 627) worked with visiting professionals from Disney to produce four animated shorts. Each team of students had to develop a storyline around the simple concept of a toy sitting on a shelf in a child’s bedroom and then produce a thirty-second short.  For the past sixty days, these students literally worked around the clock. In an upcoming entry, I’ll post their final animations.  In the meantime, watch this video of their last day of working on this project.

Wow those kids need some sleep. Are the videos done then!

Well, they’re sort of done. In a couple of weeks, I should have copies of the final projects to post online.

Thanks again for letting me share part of my world with you.
