Potter Mania

The Book Is Better

The latest Harry Potter film began showing in theaters late Tuesday night after midnight. Ruben and I decided to take part in the madness that we knew would be taking place at our local theater that evening. Originally, there were six midnight screenings. We bought our tickets online days ago and were only able to get into the last screening. The demand to see this film was so great, the theater doubled the number of screens, with the finally show beginning at 3:30am! Yeah, so us seeing the the 12:20AM show doesn’t seem that crazy. We got to the theater to pickup our tickets at 8:15PM. I asked the girl behind the ticket booth what time we should arrive to get in line. She replied – “now.” At first we thought she was joking, but she was very serious. So, by 8:30 we were in line for a 12:30 screening. Thankfully, the time went by quickly. There were plenty of Harry Potter fans (including my student worker, Laura) walking around the theater in costumes. BTW: This is the first time I’ve seen a Harry Potter film after having read the book. The movie was great, very well done, but the book is so much better. Sad to say, they had to remove a lot from the original story to make it fit into this 2.5 hour film. As soon as it was over, we were ready to watch it again. As we left the theater at 3:00AM, we spotted a couple of friends standing in line to see the 3:30 show…..Crazy!

I’ll Close this entry with a spell of my own….”leaveacommenta“!
