Carl and Damian

January 24, 2010
On a sunny and windy Sunday, Glenn, Ruben and I headed South of Houston to attend Carl and Damian’s wedding. It was a beautiful, intimate, outdoor ceremony held at Butler’s Court in League City. We enjoyed a nice relaxing evening with mutual friends as we shared this special day with Carl and Damian. Glenn, Ruben and I spent most of our time with old friends, Cody, Jake, Bert and Roy.

Even though we enjoyed this great day with Carl and Damian, I’m always a little saddened by the thought that their union is not legally recognized. Heaven forbid anything should happen to either one of them because Carl or Damian could never claim the other as a dependant, or in most cases add the other to his insurance. One could even be denied visitation rights if the other were hospitalized. This whole issue is a matter of prejudice and inequality. But looking on the bright side, when same sex couples marry, they do it for love. I know times are changing. When Ruben and I went shopping for a wedding gift, we found this card (pictured above) at the Walgreens down the street. It might not mean much to others, but finding this card in College Station put a smile on my face.

GREAT entry…. IT WAS a wonderful evening, and GOOD friends, GOOD food, GOOD times!!
Glen,
What beautiful photos. Thank you so much for sharing them.
Sylvia
Thank you for sharing.
Very nice. Wait to see what comes out of the Perry v. Schwarzenegger trial. If all goes well up to the US Supreme Court, “ya’ll” be able to marry legally in any US state.
