Saturday evening Ruben and I drove down to the Heights in Houston to attend our second Christmas party of the season. Esteban and Kelly opened their home to friends and family for a fun little holiday gathering. A good time was had by all.
September 18-19, 2010 Friday evening, my friend Esteban came up from Houston with a couple of his friends to introduce them to Aggieland culture. Ruben and I helped Esteban play tour guide. The adventure began with BBQ at J.Cody’s, followed by cocktails at our place, then a trip to Northgate where Ruben had his first [...]
August 8, 2010 Sunday morning, we slept in late, recovering from the previous two nights. The three of us had brunch later that morning at Baby Barnaby’s Café. Before leaving Houston, Esteban showed us Discovery Green, a 12-acre park located in downtown Houston. It’s a nice green-space to explore, but at 106 degrees, the heat [...]
August 7, 2010 Early Saturday morning the three of us headed to Memorial Park where Esteban and his team, The Divas, were participating in a daylong softball tournament. Unfortunately, the weather that day was ridiculously HOT. Despite the heat, these crazies played the whole day. Ruben and I had fun watching Esteban and his friends [...]
August 6, 2010 Friday afternoon, Ruben and I headed to Houston to spend the weekend with Esteban and help him throw together a housewarming party the following evening. Shortly after we arrived we made a run for party supplies, then headed to a local park to watch Esteban play a softball game with his team [...]

The best time to go to a theme park like Six Flags is in the middle of the week (at the beginning or end of the season) because the crowds are usually very small. That’s what we did when Esteban visited us for a couple of days and convinced us to go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
A birthday wouldn’t’ be complete without gifts! GRIN. In addition to some really cool iTunes gift cards I got a couple of unique gifts to hang on the wall. Ruben gave me an autographed print of a stylized Texas map chronicling the history of the railways that connected every part of the Lone Star State, including the railway line (MKT) my great-great-grandfather worked on.
