One of the hardest things to do is say goodbye to a friend. During the first week of the year, Ruben and I joined a group of folks in Downtown Bryan to attend a goodbye-party for our mutual friend, Kyle.
This year, Ruben and I have mixed emotions about no longer shooting the giant panoramic photos of every home Aggie football game. Texas A&M is now part of the SEC and the popularity of the transition to this conference has brought about a lot of changes, including an almost non-existent relationship between my department and the athletic department. *sigh* Oh well, things change. Looking on the bright side, now Ruben and I have more free-time during the fall weekends. On this particular weekend, we hosted an informal gathering of friends to celebrate Glenn’s birthday. We had a lot of laughs, plenty of food and watched the Aggies play South Carolina State.
For almost five years now, I could count on my fingers the number of times we “went out” clubbing. We have never been into the club scene, but for some strange reason, we went out to Halo three weekends in a row. This was very odd for us…but we let our hair down, danced, laughed with friends and had a good time. *sigh* But I do wish Halo was smoke free….Icky.
This entry will cover a few events I took part in over the past few weeks. The fun began at Chris and Brian’s place where Ruben and I joined several friends for a relaxing Super Bowl party. Like past Super Bowls, this game was just another excuse to get together, eat each other’s cooking and watch funny commercials. The second event was an evening spent in John and Paul’s backyard. Glenn and I joined other friends there for laughs and drinks around a warm fire.
Ahh, November, the month when people gather with friends and family to eat Turkey and enjoy one another’s company. Our first Thanksgiving celebration occurred at the home of our friends, Joe and Joe. We met a lot of new folks that evening, ate lots of great food and had plenty of laughs.
June 16, 2011 Thursday evening, Ruben and I held a game-night at our place. The main objective for the evening was to play a few rounds of Lotería (aka: Mexican Bingo). This was my second time to play the game…and my first time to win. This iconic Mexican game is very similar to bingo, but [...]
March 17, 2011 This year St. Patrick’s Day fell in the middle of spring break and (since we weren’t going anywhere) we made the most of the day by doing a little bar-hopping. We started at an Irish pub called O’Bannon’s, then headed to another Irish bar called Murphy’s Law and eventually concluded our night [...]
